Data Scientist - Optimization Algorithms
Join an innovative and international team dedicated to leveraging Artificial Intelligence to drive efficiency and innovation in the aviation industry. As a Data Scientist, your work will involve using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to extract actionable insights, develop predictive models, and contribute to data-driven strategies. You will use structured, unstructured and streaming data, and communicates clearly the results and implications of the data analysis and hypothesis driven approach to senior leaders, including productionising with product delivery teams.

Key responsibilities
1. Optimization Algorithms:
• Develop and implement metaheuristic optimization algorithms such as Genetic Algorithms (GA) .
• Solve complex mathematical problems by designing and implementing custom optimization solutions.
2. Problem Modeling:
• Translate complex business rules into mathematical constraints for optimization problems.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and design solutions tailored to specific operational challenges.
3. Data Analysis and Preprocessing:
• Collect, clean,and preprocess data from multiple sources to prepare it for optimization and analysis.
• Identify patterns and insights within data to improve the performance of optimization models.
4. Algorithm Performance Evaluation:
• Evaluate and finetune optimization algorithms to ensure they meet performance criteria.
• Perform sensitivity analyses to understand the impact of various constraints and parameters.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with product delivery teams to productionize optimization models.
• Communicate results and implications of optimization models to senior leaders and stakeholders.
6. Mentorship:
• Mentor junior data scientists and provide guidance on optimization techniques and best practices.
• Share knowledge within the team to foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
• Strong experience with metaheuristic optimization techniques (e.g., Genetic Algorithms, PSO, SA).
• Proven ability to translate complex mathematical problems into actionable optimization algorithms.
• Proficiency in Python and data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn), as well as optimization focused libraries like PuLP, Pyomo, and metaheuristic frameworks such as DEAP and Optuna.
• Strong understanding of business rule modeling and constraint programming.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with linear optimization techniques and tools (e.g., Gurobi, CPLEX).
